Central Florida Field Guide
Let's get reacquainted
Um...so it's been almost a year since I have posted anything. I only started this blog because I applied for a internship last summer (yep, because I need yet another thing to do) and all applicants had to have a one. I didn't get the internship, but now I'm stuck with another piece of me floating around on the www. I decided I either was going to delete this or start giving it some attention. So...here world, this is me. (Oh and Seth sometimes!)
Our first 2 trips to Maine
Last September we headed back to the northeast. This time we flew into New Hampshire and stayed with our friends, Nicole and Dusty about an hour west of Boston. We got a little taste of fall, but we were still able to enjoy all the late summer tomatoes. The road side markets in the northeast are one of my most favorite things! We may get 3 or 4 kinds of tomatoes at the farmer's market in Florida, certainly not rows and rows of different heirloom varieties. It was fascinating! We bought about 8 different kinds and made a delicious caprese salad with basil from Nicole and Dusty's garden.

This past June we drove up the coast of Maine from Portland to Acadia National Park. We camped in my super tiny tent for 5 days. I will tell you that we need a bigger tent. Pronto.
Neither of us had been to Maine before. We both have always had a very strong draw to go there. It was the first time we had been anywhere that you feel like you're up in the mountains, but then you cross over a salt marsh and are reminded that you are driving along the ocean. We LOVE Maine and we will definitely be back!

DESIGN*SPONGE - ORLANDO CITY GUIDE
Such an honor to create this city guide for one of my favorite web sites!
WE'RE ENGAGED!!!
Just shy of 2 years of dating and about 10 years of friendship, we're engaged!
Seth gave me his great grandmother's wedding ring! The band is inscribed with his great grandparent's wedding date of October 18, 1917. It's so very special!
We had the PERFECT day! We picked strawberries at Pappy's Patch, drank beers at the Black Hammock Fish Camp and shopped for groceries for dinner. Seth gave me The Essential New York Times Cookbook and picked out a recipe to make me for dinner that night. We rushed home, put the groceries away and headed down out for a walk just in time to see the sunset at a park near our house. Just after taking some sunset pictures, I barely noticed that he was down on one knee. He actually had to say, "I'm on one knee..." All I remember is asking, "what are you doing?!" over and over again. I finally screamed, "you're doing it!" Totally took me off guard!
