Our first 2 trips to Maine

Last September we headed back to the northeast.  This time we flew into New Hampshire and stayed with our friends, Nicole and Dusty about an hour west of Boston. We got a little taste of fall, but we were still able to enjoy all the late summer tomatoes. The road side markets in the northeast are one of my most favorite things! We may get 3 or 4 kinds of tomatoes at the farmer's market in Florida, certainly not rows and rows of different heirloom varieties. It was fascinating! We bought about 8 different kinds and made a delicious caprese salad with basil from Nicole and Dusty's garden.

So many beautiful tomato varieties!
Freedom Trail!
Our friends let us borrow their car (yay for budget traveling!)  and we headed north along the coast to visit Maleah, Evan and Coco in Portland, ME. Seth and I LOVE Portland, so we were happy to be able to hang out with friends that live there and get a locals tour of the town. We are so jealous of their backyard chickens! One day....

Maleah and Evan own coco + milkweed. Pretty much the cutest stuff ever.
Backyard chickens in the West End neighborhood of Portland. Like I said, jealous.

This past June we drove up the coast of Maine from Portland to Acadia National Park. We camped in my super tiny tent for 5 days. I will tell you that we need a bigger tent. Pronto.

Neither of us had been to Maine before. We both have always had a very strong draw to go there. It was the first time we had been anywhere that you feel like you're up in the mountains, but then you cross over a salt marsh and are reminded that you are driving along the ocean. We LOVE Maine and we will definitely be back!

Blueberries! We were about 2 months too early.
